This is a skin contact natural wine made from a blend of Malvasia Aromatica di Candia, Marsanne, Ortrugo, and Trebbiano Romagnolo by legendary winemaker Giulio Armani in Emilia-Romagna. Spontaneous fermentation with indigenous yeasts, maceration on the skins for about 10 days. Unfined, unfiltered, no added sulfites. Catavela is a medium bodied orange wine with notes of apricot, wildflowers, and honey. The palate is fresh with bright acidity.
Anna and Andre Durrmann began experimenting with zero sulphur wines in 2008, and are now certified Agriculture Biologique. They try to make as little impact on their grapes as possible. The floral graphics on the label give an indication of what waits within – it's like drinking a tropical spring garden. Vibrant and aromatic, zesty and zingy, with big tropical notes of pineapple and high acidity preventing it being sweet or cloying.
