Welschriesling vom Opok '18
Description: This welschriesling from winemaker Ewald Tscheppe presents an upfront mineral character with lovely aromatics and yellow fruit. Tscheppe took over his family farm and winery in Styria, Austria at the age of 26. He has since produced some of the region’s most fascinating white wines; joyful, expressive, savoury and complex.
Grapes are harvested by hand and brought to the winery for a slow pressing which typically takes place over night. Fermentation is with natural yeast and elevage is in large barrels and Austrian Foudres.
Opok is the Styrian term for a particular clay silt soil, and the wines grown from it are often labelled "vom Opok."
