What You Should Know: In the early 1960s, it is said that Italian soprano Maria Callas enjoyed her Fernet with a few mint leaves and ice before performing. Her fans followed suit. The Branca distillery embraced the trend and created Brancamenta.

Like Fernet-Branca, the exact recipe is a closely guarded secret. Yes, there are herbs. Yes, there is spice. Yes, there is Piedmontese peppermint oil. 

A deep balsamic brown colour, bitter and herbaceous, a touch sweeter than Fernet-Branca, intensely minty and cooling. Chill allllll the way down, subzero. Sip from a block of ice if possible.
